Bond 2026

Dallas voters show overwhelming support for Bond 2026

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, Dallas ISD voters made history by approving, by an overwhelming 3 to 1 margin, a transformative $6.2 billion bond election, the largest ever in the State of Texas. The bond is an investment that reflects a powerful commitment to Dallas ISD students, schools, and the community and culminates months of planning and collaboration while setting the stage for generational impact across the district.

The bond proposal was developed over the past year with guidance from the Citizens Bond Steering Committee, a diverse group of community members appointed by the Board of Trustees.

The 2026 bond will:

  • Build 26 new schools to replace facilities that are, on average, 70 years old
  • Renovate and modernize every campus across the district
  • Remove the district’s 700 remaining portable classrooms, impacting nearly 10,000 students
  • Enhance safety and security at all campuses
  • Upgrade school furniture, student technology, and transportation, including new school buses
  • Improve physical education facilities and repair swimming pools

The bond was structured into four propositions to ensure transparency and flexibility, which included the ability to free up additional resources to be redirected to support classroom instruction.

The bond will have a minimal (1 cent) tax rate impact for the average homeowner, and residents aged 65 and older with a homestead exemption will not see an increase in their school district taxes unless significant improvements are made to their property. Even with this investment, Dallas ISD is projected to maintain the lowest tax rate among the ten largest school districts in North Texas.

This new bond builds on the success of the 2020 bond program, which has already created more than 64,000 jobs, funded multiple new and replacement schools, and delivered critical safety, accessibility, and efficiency upgrades across more than 200 campuses.

Now we celebrate what we have accomplished together. Now we begin the important work of delivering on this promise—creating safer, stronger, and more inspiring learning environments for every student we serve.

Thank you for your continued support and for believing in the future of our schools.
